Greetings globetrotters! It’s been awhile and I’m way overdue for an update. Life has been lifing for most of us I’m sure. I’ve had to contend with a war breaking out right in my backyard here in the Middle East between Iran, USA, and Israel that I’m sure you all are aware of. As of just yesterday, it was announced that due to the War Powers Resolution that hostilites with Iran have ended after the ceasefire last month.

I’m currently in the middle of working on my plans for summer vacation and I’m happy to announce for those who haven’t heard that I’ll be attending the Cannes Lions Festival 2026 this year. I won a scholarship ie free ticket from the (ERA) Equity, Representation, and Accessibility Programme!

Some of you may be asking yourselves what exactly is the Cannes Lions Festival? It is taking place June 22-26, 2026, in beautiful Cannes, France. This isn’t your average conference; it’s a vibrant hub where innovation meets inspiration, offering unparalleled opportunities for professional growth and a chance to experience the French Riviera. I seriously can’t wait!

For nearly seven decades, the Cannes Lions Festival has evolved from a celebration of advertising to a global benchmark for creative excellence across all industries. It’s not just about the awards. It’s a comprehensive learning ecosystem designed to expose professionals to world-class insights and transformative inspiration. Furthermore, think of it as a five-day intensive where you can:

  • See the best: Witness groundbreaking campaigns and creative strategies that are shaping the future of marketing.
  • Learn from the leaders: Hear from industry titans and emerging voices across diverse sectors. The likes of Oprah Winfrey, Adam Mosseri of Meta, Questlove, and more will be speaking this year.
  • Network like a pro: Connect with over 12,000 professionals from 90+ countries, forging relationships that can propel your career forward. This is what I am Most excited about!

The Equity, Representation, and Accessibility Programme: Leveling the Playing Field

Cannes Lions is committed to creating a more inclusive and accessible experience for all. The Equity, Representation, and Accessibility Programme (ERA) is a game-changer, providing pathways for historically underrepresented talent to access the festival with full funding and professional support. I’m beyond grateful and honored for this funding opportunity.

Here’s a breakdown of some key initiatives:

  • ERA Programme: Provides recipients with the opportunity to experience Cannes Lions firsthand, engage with the global industry, and celebrate groundbreaking creativity emerging from diverse creators.
  • Jodi Harris Scholarship: In partnership with AB InBev, this program offers emerging marketing leaders access to Cannes Lions, including exclusive sessions with industry experts.
  • LIONS Scholarship: Offers young creatives from around the world fully-funded places on the Cannes Lions Brand Marketers and Creative Academies.
  • See It Be It: This program, now in its thirteenth year, accelerates women and non-binary creatives into senior creative roles.

Turning Cannes Lions into a Bleisure Trip: Maximize Your Productivity and Your Vacation

As of today, May 1, 2026, you have less than two months to plan your trip to the South of France. Contemporary travel patterns increasingly reflect a blend of business and leisure – “bleisure travel” – especially among millennials and Gen Z. Consider extending your stay to soak up the beauty of the French Riviera. After all, 76% of employees now extend international work trips for personal time.

  • Boost your productivity: 59% of millennials report that travel boosts productivity.
  • Embrace local experiences: Seek out local workshops, culinary experiences, and cultural immersion.
  • Prioritize rest and renewal: Time away from work can enhance creativity and professional engagement.

Following the festival I will be heading to Barcelona, Spain for a few days and then doing a French Riviera cruise for a week with my sister and friends via Virgin Voyages.

Conclusion: Your Cannes Lions Adventure Awaits

Cannes Lions Festival 2026 is more than just a conference; it’s an investment in your future. It’s a chance to connect with the global creative community, learn from the best, and experience the magic of the French Riviera. I’ll be there to network and learn from the best!
