Oman Happenings: Germany Roadshow & USA Marine Ball

Greetings globetrotters! I hope you all have been doing well. I’m well overdue for a life update. Life has most certainly been lifing, but overall, things are going well on my end here in Oman. Since the election, so many have been inquring about life abroad as an expat, so I figured I should update everyone on what’s going on in the desert.

Germany RoadShow

It has been ironic that I recently attended two seperate events that are representative of my previous homes. First, being the Germany Roadshow hosted by the German tourism board at the German embassy in Muscat. As some of you may recall, I studied for a year abroad in Germany receiving my MA in International Humantarian Action with the NOHA network. I have fond memories of my time as a student there just over a decade ago.

Moreover, it was nice to network with tourism connections from Visit Berlin; Dusseldorf Airport (which I traveled through while living in Bochum); Visit Dresden; and more. We enjoyed a delicious buffet. Additionally, I even won a prize from the Visit Dresden team while we played a game of Kahoot! I had a great time meeting other travel professionals and media currently residing in Oman.

USA Marine Ball

I recently attended the USA Marine Ball celebrating the birthday of the USA marines corps. It was a fabulous opportunity to get dressed up and see some of my other American friends and associates. Futhermore, I managed to see the USA Ambassador again. We met a couple of months ago at a dinner hosted by the embassy for us CLVs (Citizen Liasion Volunteers).

We also heard from several veterans and had a fantastic three-course meal, which included chicken stuffed with spinach, and fire pumpkin pie. It was followed up with several live sets of music and dancing the night away with tunes spun by my friend DJ Len. For those who were wondering, you can have a ball as an expat. All you have to do is put yourself out there, network, and flourish with an expat circle like I have with my Brothas and Sistas of Oman group.

So, have you been considering the expat lifestyle globetrotters or are you already an expat? If you have any questions about moving abroad, please do always feel free to email me via my details on the contact page.
